You're feeling overwhelmed and the things you've been trying just aren't making you feel any better. The reason why it hasn't worked isn't because there's something wrong with you but rather it's that the story you tell yourself about the problem. At Blue Sage Counseling and Wellness we use a holistic approach focused on the connection of mind and body that helps you to separate yourself from your story, learn the healing power of REAL connection, and how to get your life back so you can feel like yourself again.

I'm Ashley Francis and I am a licensed therapist in Charlotte, NC. I became a mental health therapist because I believe that all humans are deserving of love, connection, acceptance, and belonging. The more digitally connected we become, the more more socially distanced we feel. I believe that self-criticism and isolation are the modern pandemic. You feel lonely, hopeless, and not good enough but you still have a shred of hope that it can get better.

I teach people how to love themselves and one another because I believe that healing only happens in relationship.

Some days it's difficult just to get out of bed.
The zest for life that you once felt is no longer there and you try desperately to find it again.
You may even find yourself relying on alcohol, food, or substances to numb the hurt but the relief is only temporary.
You might even seek help from friends, family, or other health professionals to manage the depression but you just can't seem to find relief from sadness.
Each day can feel like an eternity when all you want to do is curl up at home and shut yourself away from the world.
Maybe you're having difficulties sleeping.
Little things startle you, and you feel constantly on edge.
Sometimes you think you're depressed, but you know it's more than that.
You're avoiding things and feel stuck.
You want to "move on" and try to forget the stressful things you've been through, but memories and negative thoughts keep coming back.
Maybe others don't understand what you've been through.
It can be difficult for those who have not experienced trauma and/or Post-traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) to understand what it is like to live with trauma.
For much of your life, or your entire life, you have found it challenging to "fit in."
You know that you're a good person and have a lot to offer the world but remain frustrated that others can't or won't acknowledge that you are simply human.
You might even feel as though you were born in the wrong body and feel desperate to make the necessary changes to finally match who you are on the outside with who you are on the inside.
Or you simply feel misunderstood and would give anything just to have others understand that your sexual preference is not your only defining factor but rather just one small part of the vast person that you are.
