Psychoanalysis
I work from a psychoanalytic-psychotherapy approach meaning I'm most interested in what your experience is. What that means is that through careful dialogue, I'll work with you to better identify and understand what may be behind painful symptoms like lack of impulse control, binge eating, depression that's so heavy you can't get out of bed, or the terrible grief that comes from losing a loved one.

Often life feels unmanageble and even intolerable. If that's the case, I provide a safe enough environment where together we can better understand what's going on and we can look toward improving your situation. I specialize in mourning and grief, depression, impulsivity often tied to some eating disorders, and anxiety. Joshua C. Richmond, M.P.W. offers psychotherapy and psychoanalysis for adults at his office in South Pasadena.

He is a psychoanalyst and is a graduate of New Center for Psychoanalysis of Los Angeles, and a member of American Psychoanalytic Association. Joshua C. Richmond was an Adjunct Professor at Cal State Fullerton for four years and is a vested member of the Writers Guild of America West.
Services
Do you find yourself on the computer, lagging behind your loved one, or simply not wanting to respond to the overtures of the people in your life?
Come in, and let us, together, try to understand what's going on so we can untie the knots that keep you out of the life you're living.
Often, we have needs operating inside us that we're not even aware of, and there are old patterns used to deal with the hurt of those unfulfilled needs that can often cut people out of our lives who we care the most about.
Please come in and we'll talk.
Hopefully, we'll be a good fit.
If for some reason, we're unable to work together, then I'll do my best to find someone that's right for you.
But do come in, and we'll talk about what's going on.
If you have insurance and would like to seek reimbursement, these are the questions you should ask yourself.
What will it cost?
When you come in for your first visit, we'll discuss your situation and go about setting an appropriate fee.
If for some reason a proper fee can't be found, then I'll refer you to a therapist that hopefully will accomodate you.
