Laura Thomas, Ph. D
D., an experienced and compassionate psychologist in Thousand Oaks, CA. Here, you will find helpful information about the psychotherapy and counseling services that I offer individuals, couples, and families in Thousand Oaks and the Conejo Valley. Life can present us with many challenges and difficulties that we are not prepared to deal with. Although family and friends may be supportive and desire to be helpful, they may be limited in their ability to be objective.

Sometimes it is helpful to have the assistance of a trained licensed professional, such as an experienced therapist, to guide you through your life's journey with its challenges and obstacles. As your counselor, I assist you in learning about yourself and help you acquire alternative coping techniques for the problems you are facing. Additionally, I support and encourage you as you implement key changes in your life that result in greater peace and happiness.

As people journey through their lives, each will meet with obstacles and challenges that they must overcome in a healthy manner in so they may continue growing and moving forward.
Services
I am a licensed psychologist in California.
I received my doctorate from Michigan State University in 1985.
I then moved to California to acquire experience and sit for the State Exams in Clinical Psychology.
In the past, I have worked for county mental health in outpatient adult services, including serving an inmate population.
I have also worked in industrial medicine and acute care hospitals as well as psychiatric hospitals, consulting regularly.
Currently, my private practice is with an outpatient population of teens, adults, and seniors across a wide variety of settings and life challenges.
When it's time to work through the challenges in your marriage with an experienced therapist, call Laura Thomas, Ph.
D. I provide marriage counseling in Thousand Oaks, CA, that helps couples recognize what triggers conflicts in their marriage.
During our sessions, we learn how to deal with those conflicts in a healthy manner.
Despite the stigma falsely attributed to this kind of counseling, not every couple that enters therapy for their marriage is in trouble.
Many couples decide to enter counseling to ensure that their relationship stays on track or to learn how to make their relationship last in a healthy, happy manner.
Anxiety is a normal and healthy response to stress.
It can help us increase our concentration, improve motivation, cope with pressures at work or home, and deal with difficult tasks.
In its extreme forms, though, anxiety can become an immobilizing disorder.
If you would like to discuss anxiety disorders in Thousand Oaks, CA, please call Laura Thomas, Ph.
D. I am a licensed psychologist and therapist that helps individuals cope with their anxiety symptoms.
Additionally, I support these individuals as they identify and work through their symptoms' underlying causes.
D. when you are facing major changes in your life.
I am a licensed and compassionate life transitions therapist in Thousand Oaks, CA.
My areas of specialization include helping people formulate coping strategies in order to re-establish their equilibrium in life.
One thing we know is that we can count on change occurring throughout our lives.
Despite this well-known fact, we seem to spend our lives operating under the illusion that "we are in control."
Much of our energy is spent trying to prevent change from happening so that things stay the same.
Whether it is diabetes, cancer, fatigue, or a heart condition, your chronic illness is a difficult daily struggle.
In addition to the regular day-to-day stressors that everyone faces, individuals with a chronic illness must cope with the constant uncertainty of their health status.
It is a misconception that chronic illness only requires physical medical treatment, as the longtime wear of these diseases can lead to exhaustion, anger, and depression.
Chronically ill individuals often benefit from speaking to a trained psychologist about healthy coping skills.
