Services
Prism Psychological Services offers evaluations for children with attention problems, hyperactivity, learning issues, school placement, and special education services.
We also offer treatment and psychotherapy services for a wide range of emotional, behavioral, and learning problems.
Prism Psychological Services offers psychological and learning assessments to help children receive special education services in school.
While schools can offer special education evaluations, many parents seek our services for a variety of reasons.
A neuropsychological evaluation is a comprehensive assessment of cognitive and behavioral functions using a set of standardized tests and procedures.
Predoctoral training in psychology and neuropsychology which includes an organized graduate course of study in neuropsychology.
Formal postdoctoral training focusing on brain-behavior relationships and neuropsychological assessment.
A neuropsychological evaluation is recommended for any case in which brain-based impairment in cognitive function or behavior is suspected.
Psychotherapy is often used either alone or in combination with medications to treat mental illnesses.
Called "therapy" for short, the word psychotherapy actually involves a variety of treatment techniques.
During psychotherapy, a person with a mental illness talks to a licensed and trained mental health care professional who helps him or her identify and work through the factors that may be triggering their illness.
Understand and identify the life problems or events -- like a major illness, a death in the family, a loss of a job, or a divorce -- that contribute to their illness and help them understand which aspects of those problems they may be able to solve or improve.
Parent training is an integral part of working with children who misbehave.
We have worked with parents who said, "we've tried everything, and nothing works!"
Sometimes even the best-intentioned parents need new ideas or adjustments to old methods that have not worked.
Most often, children misbehave because they are rewarded for it.
Think of the typical scene in a department store where 6-year-old Johnny decides to lay on the carpet, screaming and banging his hands and feet.
How do many moms and dads react?
