Parental instinct with an awareness of child psychology give us the road map to gently guide kids into resilience. Kids have embraced the virtual world, so parents need to get braver and accept tech with agreeable curiosity rather than frightened resistance. ADULTS by helping you build insight, learn emotion-management tools, and rediscover spontaneous play in between the necessary and mundane.

Healing happens in informed, reflective, creative spaces. KIDS by encouraging empowerment, resilience, and smart problem solving in real life and in virtual neighborhoods. Kids must recognize that we "see" who they really are. To do that we really have to listen and join them in their fantastical world of play. STUDENTS who thirst for understanding and knowledge.

Psychology requires students to learn about themselves and others in all facets of what's important. Teaching addiction studies, parenting, and psychology courses has helped me heal as I tell stories, like my mom's devastating descent into alcoholism.

ABC Action News with Dr. Tracy Bennett - Virtual learning raises concerns about screen time dangers.
Bennett's resources and stories were extremely relevant and easy to understand and implement.
I particularly appreciated her examples of how to talk with children, especially inviting them to 'do the work' researching different apps, making a persuasive argument, and also the wonderful question, "what do you think?" to help them develop their critical thinking skills.
I provide mission-driven business consultation and strategic partnership with clients who develop, implement, and utilize tech products for children, teens, and parents.
Consistent with my mission to help families prevent and heal from digital injury while building stronger relationships, I advise customers how to interface with families in a mutually beneficial, positive way.

Screens are everywhere, all of the time.
They make life easier in so many ways.
But there is also risk due to effective persuasive design that hacks our brain's reward system.
Screens are so compelling that kids are falling victim to digital injuries, distraction, and "mean times" due to profit-seekers, cyberbullies, and Internet predators.
It's challenging to parent our kids offline AND online.
These days, parenting standards seem impossible to live up to.
Parents feel guilty, worrying that we aren't doing enough or that we're doing too much.
Where's the perfect balance?
It seems we are expected to provide our kids with almost constant entertainment, enrichment, and protection while giving them opportunity to build independent resilience.
They are too often afraid to fail, and we are too often afraid to fail them.
Add in screens expertly designed to capture our attention, and family life becomes even more challenging.
