My view of psychotherapy is an intermittent and life long process where individuals and couples are able to explore and challenge their fears, confront their past, and heal to make positive change to improve their quality of life.
My goal is to provide a safe and supportive environment that is free of judgement where you can look at personal fears, issues that hinder growth, and identify feelings so that one can move toward the steps of change.
I work with couples to help them get the most from their relationships and their lives.
Amy Joseph, MA, LMHC is a licensed Mental Health Counselor specializing in EMDR, individual, and group therapy.
Amy has over 20 years experience and has expertise and experience in EMDR.
EMDR is a therapy for unwinding the brain and nervous system from traumatic experiences or painful memories, so that more relaxation and life force energy become available.
Amy enjoys working with people who are actively navigating life transitions and consciously searching for meaning and purpose.
Unexpected life events can create discomfort and unease in the short term, and they also open doors that were previously closed or blocked, leading to a re-evaluation of spiritual beliefs, relationships, and quality of life issues.
While people come to psychotherapy for relief from distress, confusion, or pain, psychotherapy is also a journey of self-discovery, an opportunity to learn about oneself, to explore one's strengths and challenges, and to find one's path.
As a psychotherapist, it is my privilege to collaborate with you on this journey.
My goal is to be a healing presence to engage, support, and challenge you to accomplish your goals.
I have been providing psychotherapy to adults and teens for 28 years.
Prior to starting a private practice, I worked at community mental health centers and at Day One (formerly the RI Rape Crisis Center).
