We are behavioral health consultants who have worked together for years treating the residents of Hardin and surrounding counties. We have experience in the management of serious mental health conditions. We have also helped many students, homemakers, craftsmen, military and professionals who were looking for problem-solving tools to get through a difficult time.

I provide psychotherapy and consultations to adults face-to-face within my office, and through use of video counseling (teletherapy). I have been working in Hardin County since 2005. The bulk of my work was in Individual and Family Therapy, psychological assessments and other reports. Helping the patient find the meaning in his or her life is the starting point; then steps to make and sustain lifestyle changes and develop long-term goals can be accomplished.
Services
Yes, it is confusing.
There is little standard terminology in the mental health (or is it Behavioral Health?) field.
In practice, there is not much difference between counseling and psychotherapy (just "therapy" for short).
In general, the term Counseling is used for highly focused, short-term treatment.
Under enough stress, most people will show some anxious or depressive symptoms.
When the distress is "greater than expected, " treatment for Adjustment Disorders can give you more perspective and coping strategies to get through the crisis faster and with less wear and tear.
Psychiatric diagnosis is made clinically, that is by observation by a mental health professional and a review of signs and symptoms.
Before a psychiatric diagnosis can be made, an exam must be done to rule out medical conditions.
It is important to report all of your symptoms to all of your doctors.

A Psychiatrist is a medical doctor who specializes in Psychiatry.
Today, most clinical Psychiatric practice is focused on diagnosis and prescribing medication.
In Kentucky, only a Medical Doctor or a Nurse Practitioner can prescribe medication.
Any physician can legally treat any medical problem, and many general practitioners will prescribe lifestyle changes or medication for mild symptoms of anxiety, depression or sleep disturbance.
Most will refer patients with treatment-resistant symptoms or more serious conditions such as Major Depressive Disorder, Bipolar Disorder, or Psychotic Disorders to a specialist, that is, a Psychiatrist or a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner.
