Dr. Walz earned her Ph. D. in clinical psychology from the University of Arkansas, Fayetteville in 1990 and completed an American Psychological Association accredited internship specializing in neuropsychology and geriatrics at the Hutching Psychiatric Center in Syracuse NY. She has been in private practice in Fort Smith since 1990. She specializes in psychological and neuropsychological assessment.
Dr. Walz is a member of the American Psychological Association, the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the Arkansas Psychological Association (ArPA). She has been an active member of ArPA for 20 years, having served on the board, as the Federal Advocacy Coordinator for 14 years, and President in 2018. She has also served on local boards such as the Alzheimer's Association and the Fountain of Youth Adult Day Care.
One of her passions is taking her therapy dog to visit the elderly clients at the Fountain of Youth Adult Day Center. She also facilitates their Alzheimer's support group. She has been awarded the Governor's Volunteer Excellence Award under two governors for her volunteerism at the Fountain of Youth.
