Sometimes life throws us unexpected curve balls that are difficult to manage. Other times, we may find ourselves struggling to manage day to day life even without any major life changes. Therapy can be an important tool for helping us manage both unexpected events as well as the stresses of daily life. I provide research-based psychotherapy to adults (18+) who are struggling with a wide variety of challenges.

I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and mild alcohol and cannabis use disorders (see "Services Provided" for more details). I typically conduct individual therapy sessions, however, am open to occasionally bringing in a significant other or close friend as needed to support treatment. Everyone's situation is unique and ultimately you are the expert on you.

My approach is based on the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, and Solution-Focused Therapy techniques, which I adapt to fit your unique circumstances and therapy needs. My primary modality for providing therapy is Telehealth as research supports that Telehealth sessions are no different from in person sessions in the effectiveness of treatment.
Services
I received both doctoral Ph.
D.) and masters (M.S.) degrees in Clinical Psychology from the APA-Accredited graduate training program from Marquette University in Milwaukee, WI.
I completed an APA-Accredited internship training year at the Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital in Hoffman Estates, IL, as well as a year of post-graduate training at Cornerstone Counseling Services in Brookfield, WI.
I have been licensed as a Psychologist since 2008 and have received a psychologist license in three states (MI, IL, and WI).
I understand that this list is very general.
When you contact me initially, we will discuss the issues that bring you into treatment to ensure that they fall within the scope of issues I am trained in and have experience treating successfully.
As such, I do not treat individuals who are struggling with chronic suicidal thoughts or behaviors in my private practice.
My primary service delivery modality isthrough the use of an encrypted, HIPAA-compliant video conferencing Telehealth platform.
Research supports that the use of Telehealth for the provision of therapy services is just as effective as in person sessions.
I am in network with Blue Care Network (BCN) and Blue Cross/Blue Shield (BCBS), however, I am not a contract provider for Blue Cross Complete products.
I also will work with individuals who want to pay out of pocket.
Self-pay rates can be provided upon request.
I do not bill insurances as an out-of-network provider.
If you wish to use your out-of-network benefit, you will need to submit your own claims for services.
I can provide itemized statements as needed.
I am in the office Monday through Friday from 9:00am to 3:00pm.
My office is located just north of downtown Saline, on the second floor of the Ann Arbor Music Center building.
Please use the entrance for the insurance company and proceed up the stairs to the second floor.
You will find the sign for Solutions Psychological Services, LLC with my name, Karen Bowersox, Ph.
D., LP down the hall on the left hand side (across from the drinking fountain.)
I can be reached at 734-474-0428 to discuss or set up an initial appointment.
Once we schedule the first appointment, you will be given access to a client portal where you can communicate with me securely via text or email (in addition to the phone number above).
