Note: BCBS / Companion Benefits Alternatives and United / Optum permanently allow telehealth appointments anywhere in the State of South Carolina. The other insurances are likely to permanently allow telehealth sessions, but have not made final determinations yet. When times are tough, or when you're having issues, it's hard to find things to take pride in.

The courage to seek help is something to take pride in, and we commend you for that. At Centerway Psychiatry our skill set lends itself towards being very good at diagnosing your issue, then explaining it well, and working with you in finding the right treatment. We generally find that a combination of medication and counseling works best. We focus on individuals ages 18 and up, and Erik Cantrell M.D. is board certified in psychiatry.

He is qualified to treat a broad range of adult mental health issues. Please browse our blog in the "News & Media" section where we discuss various mental health topics. It has great information, and gives you a feel for our approach.
Services
At Centerway Behavioral Health, our focus is on individualized mental health care (because each person is different).
We listen to your feedback, and we develop treatment plans that are tailored to the needs of each of our patients.
A common example of these individualized treatment plans include being able to gently identify trauma that is often missed by previous providers.
Generally speaking, every mental health issue besides trauma is remarkably consistent in its presentation, so it gets misdiagnosed quite often (take a look at the PTSD section under "Conditions").
One-half of all chronic mental illness begins by the age of 14; three-quarters by the age of 24.

With more people older than 65 than under 5, aging is more apparent than ever.
Physical and mental aging are intertwined.
The sensitivities and health problems that you experienced when you were younger are often still present decades later, but aging brings new challenge for your physical and mental well-being.
Common mental health challenges for older individuals include many of the same conditions for people of all-ages, including anxiety and depression, but some problems become more prevalent as people age.
According to the Center for Disease Control and Prevention 4.4% of the adult US population has ADHD, but less than 20% of these individuals seek help for it.
During their lifetimes, 12.9% of men will be diagnosed with ADHD, compared to 4.9% of women.
