A variety of circumstances can lead someone to seek psychotherapy. Sometimes it may be longstanding, difficult emotions, or perhaps painful memories that brought you here. Sometimes a sudden loss, or a life transition may prompt you. I see therapy as an opportunity to share and explore parts of yourself and your experience that need support, compassion and healing.

While it may sound counterintuitive, when you are struggling with known and unknown emotional patterns and difficult feelings, there may lie an opportunity for change. Psychotherapy offers a way to slow things down, focus on how to make things better, and reflect on how hurtful patterns got started, while you work to transform them. By considering therapy, you are taking an important step in shaping a better feeling life.
Services
I'm a licensed clinical psychologist in Oregon with over 18 years experience working in mental health.
It's a true privilege to work with my clients and I love my work.
I grew up in the midwest, and later went to Bowdoin College in Maine where I studied in English Literature.
After graduation, I moved to New York City and then San Francisco where I was a free lance writer.
I later attended The Wright Institute in Berkeley, CA, where I got my Masters and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology.
While studying and working to become a clinical psychologist, I accrued over 5000 hours of training, supervision and clinical work, all of which allowed me to work with varied and diverse peoples seeking relief from a broad range of issues.
I strive to be a friendly, warm, interactive and attentive therapist and I can work with you for longer in-depth work, or for briefer amounts of time.
We will figure out what you need and what best suits you as we get to know each other and you feel comfortable working with me.
I work from the point of view that psychotherapy is a creative and collaborative process.
By this I mean it's a place where we delve into the present and the past as a way to shape the future with more awareness and strength.
The only insurance panels I have chosen to join as an in-network provider is Aetna, Pacific Source, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield.
However, you may be able to see me as an out-of-network-provider, depending on your insurance plan.
Many people seek reimbursement when seeking care from an out-of-network provider such as myself.
To determine if you have mental health coverage that allows this, the first thing you should do is check with your benefits provider/advisor.
Reduced fee services are available for people who do not have mental health coverage or have inadaequate mental health coverage.
I offer supervision and consultation to trainees and psychotherapists, particularly those who are interested in treating trauma, and those interested in Control Mastery Theory (CMT).
While I was in graduate school, I was able to learn from the founders of CMT, Joe Weiss and Hal Sampson.
CMT does not have to be your focus if you are a supervisee of mine.
