The hardest thing about starting therapy is finding someone you can trust to make it worthwhile. Will this really help me? Can't I just do this on my own? Research findings show that, yes, most people can overcome depression or trauma or other stressors on their own without intervention. But if you have been struggling with these feelings for months, research shows that psychotherapy really helps.

Don't lose more precious hours of your life struggling unnecessarily. Healers have played an important role in all cultures throughout history. A therapist offers something different than a friend or family member can - training in what to listen for, skill and experience with conceptualizing what to work on to make things better, knowledge that facilitates sound support and perspective you can trust.

Everyone struggles at times in life. Suffering is universal and unavoidable. Challenging times can be scary and overwhelming, but they can also present an opportunity for growth and positive change if approached thoughtfully.
Services
People seek therapy when they need things to change.
A trusting therapeutic relationship is one that creates a safe holding space in which people can explore and confront difficult issues.
I will help you identify what you want to change, help you set goals, construct an individualized plan for making those changes and give you skills and perspective and tools.
Psychological change might involve cognitive, emotional, and/or behavioral changes.
In addition I have significant experience with addressing LGBTQA and other minority stress issues.
The answers to these questions depend on how we decide to collaborate and work together in light of the following factors.
Are you open to self-reflection and changing the way you think about emotions, thoughts, and behavior?
Therapy is a process of self exploration and change that occurs in the context of a safe, trusting relationship with someone who has the skills and knowledge to provide effective guidance and coaching.
It works best when there is 'structure'--having a plan for specific new things to learn and practice in order to achieve the desired results.
Currently, I am not an in-network provider for any health insurance companies including Medicaid.
I will be happy to provide you with all the documentation needed to file an "out-of-network" provider claim.
If you'd like to pursue this option, please check with your insurance company to ensure they reimburse for out-of-network providers.
I require payment in advance for all sessions.
In addition, if you would like to take advantage of email availability, I require payment in advance for at least one 10 minute reply.
