At Wings of Change, we not only focus on your clinical condition, but the environmental, medical, emotional and social factors that contribute.
In other words, clients are viewed through the lens of Ecological Systems Theory.
Like a garden that requires good soil, fertilization, water, weeding and sunlight to become healthy and strong, our clients live in a social/emotional environment that contributes to their cognitive, emotional and behavioral presentations and perceptions.

Keeping the above phrase in mind, neurons that fire together wire together, the neuronal activity in our brain is much like an orchestra.
Imagine a beautiful piece of music is being conducted, very pleasing to the ear, then someone in the drum section coughs, a pianist's timing is off, someone in the choir sings off key and the conductor tries to get everyone back on track.
Quite like an orchestra, our environments, our social/emotional interactions, our DNA all play roles in the regulation or dysregulation of our electroencephalogram (EEG, a record of the culmination of neuronal activity in our brain).

Trauma reaction is the inability to move the sensory memories of those traumatic experiences to our cognitive memory where the information can be processed, managed and reframed as a memory and not something that is happening in the here and now.
When we think about trauma, we typically picture a war veteran.
However, many others suffer with trauma or post traumatic stress disorder as a result of experiencing a life threatening situation, having recurring intrusive thoughts of the experience which results in a constant state of hypervigilance, anxiety and ultimately depression.

My daughter was self harming (cutting) and suicidal when I made an appointment with Lea in January.
After just one session Lea had already helped my daughter discover the cause of her anxiety and depression and taught her some coping skills.
But when Lea started neuro-feedback the results were immediate & astounding!
Every week since mid-March my daughter has been making amazing progress, she is no longer anxious and sad.
She has a smile that lights up her face again!
Lea has given my daughter her life back!
