The shortage of psychiatrists creates limitations on access to care.
Fortunately, telemedicine has entered a new age, ushered in by widely available teleconferencing.
A generation raised on the Internet is entering the healthcare marketplace.
These consumers and clinicians are accustomed to using video for many daily activities, and they seek health information from the Web.
Visiting a psychiatrist through teleconferencing isn't strange or alienating to this generation; their comfort with technology allows them to have intimate exchanges on video.
In 2016, UBHS expanded our service delivery to address the unique mental health needs of residents at skilled nursing facilities.
Today, we have a team of psychiatric nurse practitioners offering evaluations and medication management services in over seventy nursing facilities.
Our team work closely with administrators, director of nursing, and social services director to formulate care plans for patients.
While our team provides routine care for patients meeting criteria for treatment, we also respond to the needs of facilities requiring emergency care outside of regularly scheduled visits.
If you are in need of residential services, crisis intervention services or have immediate needs, we recommend you reach out to the Georgia Crisis and Access Line.
They are available 24/7 to assist those in crisis.
At UBHS, our partnerships with our facilities are extremely important.
We believe the relationships with our facilities are key to our success and the success of our clients.
UBHS is proud to partner with Ray of Hope to provide our patients at our Metro-Area Clinic with access to therapy services either via telehealth or in person.
