I was educated in Germany and the US. My professional background ranges from work in traditional clinical settings to being a staff therapist and group facilitator at the Esalen Institute. In some 30 years of practicing psychotherapy, I have come to view most emotional struggles and all relationship crises as opportunities for re-engaging aspects of self-development and growth.

I've had extensive training in psycho-dynamic, family systems, Gestalt, cognitive, somatic, and mindfulness-oriented modalities of psychotherapy, and will apply insights and "tools of these trades" in our work together. My approach is sensitive, empathic, and respectful, but also straightforward and direct. As you begin to explore and tell me about yourself, I will give you my well-considered and honest feedback.

I have not included any client testimonials here. They are considered ethically questionable, and can create unrealistic expectations. Ask me about a"trial session"at a discounted fee, and decide for yourself if you can benefit from working with me.

While relationships certainly should not be 'all work', almost every conscious, committed long-term relationship will benefit from some of this 'work' at some point in time.
In addition to learning how to communicate needs and wants more directly, 'cleanly' and effectively, it always requires us to step outside of the emotional dramas we get caught in, to better understand and learn to interrupt the conditioned responses that lead to recurring conflict, lingering resentment, emotional and/or sexual withdrawal, and other symptoms of imbalance in the relationship.
One day you finally knew what you had to do, and began, though the voices around you kept shouting their bad advice - though the whole house began to tremble and you felt the old tug at your ankles.
But you didn't stop.
You knew what you had to do, though the wind pried with its stiff fingers at the very foundations - though their melancholy was terrible.
It was already late enough and a wild night, and the road full of fallen branches and stones.
But little by little, as you left their voices behind, the stars began to burn through the sheets of clouds, and there was a new voice, which you slowly recognized as your own, that kept you company as you strode deeper and deeper into the world, determined to do the only thing you could do - determined to save the only life you could save.
Even if you have not yet experienced obvious physical, emotional, financial, legal, or social consequences of your addiction, it is a safe bet, that your life has been on hold in some of these areas.
Now, that you are considering doing something about your addiction, it is critical that you take action soon.
How often have the good intentions of the morning yielded to cravings and urges, as the day passed?-
I have helped people with addiction issues for over 25 years, in residential, outpatient, and private practice settings.
