If not now, when? Today I invite you to join me in the search for new ways to approach old problems, improve relationships, or just get through a hard time. New perspectives can bring new possibilities. Positive changes can come through psychotherapy. I combine the complementary techniques of cognitive behavioral and psychoanalytic therapies to work toward these changes.
After 45 years as a Ph. D. psychologist, I'm still excited about taking a conversational, collaborative approach to the exploration of the personal worlds and relationships of my clients. There is a "growing body of research that shows that for many psychological problems psychotherapy works better in the long term and is more cost-effective and long-lasting than medication."
Most of my clients suffer from depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. They contact me when they need extra help. My goal is to to give that help as an individual psychotherapist and relationship psychologist to those in and around Indianapolis.

As a Ph.
D. in clinical psychology with many years of practice in Indianapolis, I have worked with a wide variety of issues that are troubling to a wide variety of clients.
However, my areas of particular specialization are psychotherapy for depression, anxiety, and relationship counseling because they are usually intertwined with most problems.
No matter how the issues manifest themselves, I hope to lessen their impact on those who come for my help.
Individual psychotherapy is offered wherein a client and I meet together.

Individual therapy is an intensely personal experience.
How often in this busy, multi-tasking world, is there space for a real sit-down, paying attention just to oneself?
Not often, but individual therapy provides this space by designating a specific time, place, and person to help.
The time is regularly scheduled appointments, usually weekly; the place is the quiet safety of the therapist's office; and the helper is the psychotherapist, whose sole purpose is to support the individual's self-centering.

Because we are by nature social, our relationships with other people are fundamental to our well-being.
Good relationships enrich our lives.
We need other people to help us get through hard times and celebrate good times We need others for support in even ordinary times.
To live well, we must relate well.
There are well documented ties between relational and emotional distress.
Poor peer relationships in childhood are strong predictors of mental health diagnoses in adulthood.
Contentious marriages are a hotbed of trouble for spouses and their children.

Unfortunately, when the couple bond has broken down past a certain point, the partners may have become too distant and upset to turn to each other to repair what has gone wrong.
Then couples counseling from a professional third party is needed to facilitate the repair before divorce becomes inevitable.
You are welcome to consider me as the psychologist third party who may be of help in the repair of the partnership as you take part in couples counseling.
