I am a counseling psychologist in private practice in Newburyport, MA. I received my doctoral degree in Counseling Psychology from the University of Oregon in 2003. I hold a master's degree in education with a concentration in Human Development and Psychology from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (1996) and a bachelor of arts degree in English and French from Bowdoin College (1990).

I have experience in four university and college counseling center contexts (most recently, at Harvard's Bureau of Study Counsel) where I counseled undergraduate and graduate students and provided consultation to administrators, faculty, and staff. I completed predoctoral and postdoctoral internships at the University of New Hampshire Counseling Center.

I have also trained in a hospital-based outpatient mental health center, a child and family counseling clinic, and a community mental health center. I am licensed as a psychologist in Massachusetts. In addition, I am credentialed by the National Register of Health Service Psychologists and am a member of the Massachusestts Psychological Association.
Services
I offer both short-term counseling and longer-term psychotherapy with adults.
After our first few sessions I will be able to offer you some impressions of what our work could include based on how I understand your goals and needs.
My approach to the counseling/psychotherapy relationship is collaborative, and I encourage you to share with me your opinions and preferences about your experience.
My goal is to help you feel comfortable about sharing what's most important to you and to assist you in getting you connected with someone who can help you meet your goals.
I encourage you to contact me if you would like to talk about counseling and/or psychotherapy.
I generally respond to messages within 24-72 hours depending on when you leave a message.
I am in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and do not typically check my voicemail or email on days when I'm not in the office.
Please be aware that confidentiality is not guaranteed with online communication.
I am available to meet with you in downtown Newburyport, where my office hours currently are mid-day through the early evening on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
