I am board-certified in general psychiatry and consultation-liaison psychiatry, a subspecialty of psychiatry focused on treating behavioral conditions in patients with medical and surgical problems. I have over 10 years' experience in a variety of clinical settings, including work with college students and faculty, athletes, physicians, other professionals, military veterans, and active duty military personnel.

I have extensive experience working in primary care and other medical settings and enjoy working collaboratively with other clinicians. I welcome referrals from physicians, therapists and other caregivers seeking ongoing treatment for patients or second opinion with consultative support. See Clinical Focus for Areas of Expertise, and About or Treatment Philosophy for details about my background and approach to treatment.

Prospective Patients: My focus as a psychiatrist is working with patients to improve function, quality of life and overall health. I am particularly skilled in psychiatric assessment and medication management, though also have extensive training and experience providing psychotherapy.
Services
Conditions treated include Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, Panic Disorder, Social Anxiety Disorder, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder.
There are some conditions for which I either lack expertise, adequate time or resources to provide optimal treatment.
These include dementia (as a primary concern), borderline personality disorder, and schizophrenia.
I see many patients who have had or currently have concerns with substance use, though may refer to more specialized providers or services for more severe or complicated cases.
If you contact me to schedule an appointment, I will attempt to reply within 1-2 business days.
Before scheduling, I'll request some information by e-mail to get a better sense of what you're dealing with, any past treatment you've had, and what goals you may have for treatment.
I'll also request some information that allows my billing service to check your insurance benefits and provide you feedback on your coverage and any estimated out-of-pocket costs for appointments.
You can ask me questions as well, and I'll provide you some information about what to expect.
Running is an excellent way to improve physical, mental and emotional well-being.
Scheduling a race, setting a personal goal (to finish, or to run a personal best time) can provide excellent motivation and reinforcement.
This website offers free training plans for race distances ranging from 5K to marathon, and for levels ranging from novice to advanced.
Volunteer work can help to counteract feelings of depression and isolation, provide meaning, improve self-esteem, and connect individuals to a larger community.
