Elizabeth Seckler, MSW, LCSW, works with clients to identify areas of change and personal growth. With over 14 years of direct clinical experience, Elizabeth strives to provide a space where clients can feel emotionally safe and valued. Elizabeth, licensed in Connecticut, has extensive experience providing psychotherapy services to children, adults and families.

She has trained and worked in several mental health settings and with a range of clients/diagnoses. This range of clinical experience has informed Elizabeth that while personal issues vary, the desire to be understood is universal. Elizabeth values the importance of being understood and views all clients as capable of making positive change.
Services
Elizabeth received her Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Boston College.
Her career in mental health services began at Kids in Crisis, a residential treatment center in Greenwich, CT.
In this setting, she focused on the safe placement of children and teens while also participating in art therapy, group treatment and family meetings.
Elizabeth furthered her clinical skills and social work education, at New York University, where she received a Masters in Social Work.
Clinical internships included working with patients suffering from depressive disorders, substance abuse, grief and loss and chronic illness.
Anxiety, grief, stress, life transitions, parenting, and relationship concerns are among the many issues that clients seek support with.
The therapeutic process begins with identifying areas of change and establishing goals for treatment.
Once goals have been established, Elizabeth works with clients to meet their goal(s).
Treatment is often viewed as a way to improve emotional well-being.
Perinatal stress can include preexisting depression/anxiety conditions, pregnancy complications, infertility, miscarriage/loss and traumatic birth.
Anxiety can damage relationships and interfere with overall functioning.
Decreased performance at school/work, difficulty managing day-to-day tasks, trouble with relationships, appetite disruptions and moodiness are just some of the ways anxiety can interrupt functioning.
Using CBT and mindfulness, Elizabeth works with clients to identify triggers of anxiety and develop optimal ways to decrease it.
Depression and depressive symptoms are different for everyone.
Untreated clinical depression is a serious problem that can disrupt school/job performance, damage relationships, impair basic functioning and decrease motivation.
