Suzanne De Montigny Counseling
Safe people are difficult to find, especially when you're feeling overwhelmed and vulnerable. I provide a safe, supportive and compassionate approach to help people process mental and emotional difficulties they are experiencing in their lives. Psychotherapy, to me, is a combination of bearing witness, holding space, developing insight, intentional skills, and deepening curiosity, compassion and meaning for one's own internal life.

If you're reading this, it's probably because some part of you is suffering in some way and whatever you've been trying isn't working as well as you'd hoped. I can help with that. Process past trauma and PTSD in a safe and therapeutic way. Reduce physical symptoms migraines, digestive issues, improve sleep, appetite, energy, decrease inflammation, nausea, body pain.

Move beyond survival and enhance your life, passion, productivity, and mind/body balance. Increase awareness of Self, behavioral and relational patterns; learn to respond differently. Untangle years of self-protection, negative programming, emotional pain, confusion and turmoil.
Services
My passion in life is self-transformation and my mission is helping those who have been impacted by trauma, abusive childhood experiences, and those suffering from depression, anxiety and relational challenges.
Over the past 20 years, I have trained in many paths of healing and have discovered that every person has a unique rhythm of recovery related to their personal history of development.
My role as a therapist is to help my clients retrieve their story and the parts of themselves hidden in the rubble, shards and darkness.
You're making an important and informed decision when choosing someone to support you.
I've included common questions and answers to help you decide if you'd like to work together.

When working with my clients, I suggest they do homework in between sessions using music digitally produced to provide audible Alternating Bilateral Stimulation (ABS), which is a component of EMDR therapy (Eye-Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) and Brainspotting (BSP).
The unique Alternating Bilateral Stimulation has a relaxing effect and supports the neural integration of new perspectives and healing of negatively charged memories, particularly when it is paired with specific tasks I provide to support work done in individual therapy sessions.
Psychotherapy is a supportive pathway for healing and personal growth.
There are many benefits to doing individual therapy, some of which includes: developing self-leadership and the specific skills to help you heal yourself; recognizing your cognitions, coping mechanisms, core beliefs and patterns; and an overall understanding of your true self, family of origin, legacy burdens, and the issues you came to therapy to work through.
I work with adults and college students.
Because you can reduce your risk of divorce by 30%.
It's so interesting that when you're getting married, there is so much preparation for the ceremony - the dress, flowers, location, guest list, invitations, food, music.
As a couple, you attend a series of individualized sessions with your partner to deepen your understanding of each other and learn/practice specific tools to improve relational skills for long-term success.
Over the last 30 years, the PREPARE/ENRICH relationship assessment has empowered and energized more than 3 million couples.
