Clients can expect a warm environment rooted in acceptance.
Treatment modalities utilized include Humanistic-Existential, mindfulness, and Cognitive-Behavioral.
Perinatal mental health encompasses the psychological concerns experienced by a woman during and after pregnancy.
This more commonly includes postpartum depression and postpartum anxiety but some women also experience obsessive-compulsive symptoms, panic, posttraumatic stress, and very rarely psychosis.
Research estimates that up to 20% of women experience depression and anxiety while pregnant or after giving birth.
The American College of Obstetrics and Gynecologists now recommends screening all women for symptoms during the perinatal period, due to the significant impact that untreated symptoms of a mood or anxiety disorder can have on a woman, her baby, and the rest of her family.
The first appointment will consist of the clinical interview.
During that session, information about your history and the reason for testing will be gathered.
That information will be used to guide the selection of a battery of tests to answer the referral question.
A separate testing session will be scheduled after the clinical interview.
The testing session lasts approximately three to four hours.
Based on the purpose of testing, you may complete interactive and activity-based tests, computerized tests, and questionnaires.
