This may the moment when you realize that your life just isn't going the way you want. Whatever you try either doesn't work or blows up in your face and it all feels out of your control. You know it can be better than this, but you just can't seem to figure out how to do it. If you feel like you're really struggling right now, it may be time to get some assistance.

My name is Robert Mitchell and I'm with Searching Pathways Therapy in Belmont, California. I'm a licensed clinical psychologist with experience in helping people solve their problems. My clients describe me as offering a caring and non-judgmental environment while at the same time being insightful and straightforward. My natural style tends to be down to earth and conversational.

As I get to understand your situation, I tend to offer my thoughts on what I suspect is happening for you, but in a way that I'm told feels supportive. I generally present my thoughts as questions in that I truly don't assume I know you better than you know yourself.

Therapy can be for people experiencing a personal crisis or it may be for those who seek a richer and more embodied life.
Some individuals or couples seek therapy when they've reached the point where they can't avoid their problems any longer.
They're suffering and realize they must do something.
Initially, the focus of our work will be to navigate through the current challenges by exploring new coping skills and other ways of self-empowerment.
Others seek therapy to work on some specific problems because they know their life and/or relationships possess the potential to be better.
Located in Belmont California, Searching Pathways Therapy offers psychological services to the residents throughout the Bay Area.

I look forward to meeting you.
I meet a lot of people who tell me that they were once deeply in love, but somewhere along the way their intense feelings and sense of excitement seemed to change into what they have now.
Some of these people say their relationship feels isolated and lonely, as if they're roommates sharing the same house.
They tell me they live together in quiet civility but long for connection.
Then there are the other couples who say they are so filled with hurt and anger that they're constantly snaping at each other which leads to arguing, yelling or just shutting down.
Feelings of anger are normal and often healthy responses to negative events, but how it is expressed can be a problem.
Some people suppress their anger until they experience an outburst of rage that they can't control.
Others find themselves dealing with numerous anger outbursts or large explosions.
Unchecked anger can have far-reaching consequences, including acts of aggression or violence, the destruction of important relationships, job loss, and legal problems.
Additionally, persistent feelings of intense anger increases the risk of health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, and depression.
Worrying about things and feeling anxious is a normal human trait that serves a purpose, but too much worrying can negatively affect the quality of life.
If left to run wild, chronic states of anxiety can affect job performance, relationships, or other aspects of daily life.
Rather than a pleasure, life becomes a persistent litany of worries, fears and phobias that never ends.
At Searching Pathways Therapy in Belmont, CA, I provide anxiety treatment services to people at all levels of anxiety in a caring and professional environment.
