As a psychotherapist, I believe that physical exercise plays an important role in one's overall sense of well-being.
As a woman, I have found myself vulnerable when out walking or running alone.
Following a rape in our town's local park, I found that many women were fearful to continue their exercise routine in the park by themselves.
What once provided a sense of well-being was now clouded with anxiety and fear.
The feedback provided by some of these women was that they, themselves, felt "raped" and/or "violated".
