If you are looking for a therapist, you are likely to be struggling with emotional or physical pain and have tried a number of solutions that have not been helpful. However, you can learn a variety of mindfulness and behavioral practices that will help you to reduce your suffering and live a more vibrant life. If you feel as though you are encountering barriers to living the life you want, then you can learn to let go of and stay out of old patterns of negative thinking and behavior.

I am Yaacov J. Kravitz, Ed. D., a licensed psychologist providing psychotherapy and mindfulness meditation groups in my Jenkintown, PA office. I have been in private practice in the Philadelphia area since 1989. In my work with individuals and groups I emphasize a values based approach to behavior change. Each client learns a variety of mindfulness based practices customized to his or her individual situation, and how to apply them in difficult situations.

I typically work with clients who have depression, anxiety, stress, addictive behavior or chronic illness.

Would you like to learn how to step out of and stay out of old, well practiced patterns of negative thinking and behavior?

One aim is to help you create a rich, full and meaningful life.
To do that, we'll need to spend some time talking about what you really want out of life; what's important and meaningful to you, deep in your heart.
We call this 'clarifying your values'.
Values are your heart's deepest desires for what you want to do and how you want to be during your short time on this planet.
Mindfulness Based Practices groups are designed to meet the needs of individuals seeking effective approaches for coping with emotional distress and pain.
The groups provide an introduction to mindfulness meditation and effective cognitive-behavioral strategies for reducing stress and handling life's challenges.
The program integrates the most effective techniques from both MBCT (Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy) and ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy) an empirically supported cognitive behavioral therapy.
If you experience chronic pain due to back injury, fibromyalgia, accident or illness you probably have been searching for a "solution" for your pain.
Along the way you have probably tried a variety of medications, physical therapy, surgery, and alternative treatments.
Yet, you still experience pain and, even worse, the likelihood is that your life has become a mere shadow of what it was before the pain became such a problem.
Struggling with pain may be the main focus of your life.
The Pain Solutions approach for individuals and groups is a synthesis of two approaches which have been successfully used with pain patients to help them manage their medical condition and develop the skills to cope with adverse psychological reactions to having that condition.
