Body Psychotherapy
We sometimes shame ourselves for what we are feeling and then cope by repressing and internalizing our feelings. These thoughts lead to stories that we create and then ultimately the beliefs we have about ourselves, often of inadequacy. Our feelings are always the primary causes of the conditions or effects in our lives. Our lives are initially controlled by our feelings, which, in turn, create our thoughts.

Everything we are today is the sum total of all the feelings we have had to this moment. If we wish our lives to be different in the future, it is necessary to change our feelings, which then changes our thinking, in the present. By so doing, we change the direction of our lives! Feelings: Buried alive never die. I am a Limited License Psychologist.*

I have a Master's Degree in Clinical Psychology from the Michigan School of Professional Psychology and a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan. I have worked as an outpatient therapist, as well as in other capacities in the human services field for over 25 years.

I believe one of my greatest strengths as a therapist is my ongoing involvement in my own personal process of change.
Self-growth has been the defining factor in my life.
Bioenergetic Analysis is a body-based psychotherapy developed by Alexander Lowen, M.D., which is based on the work of the psychiatrist Wilhelm Reich.
Dr. Reich believed that the expression of the personality is based on the way the body forms and moves and that energy can be bound by chronic muscular tension.
Bioenergetic Analysis involves doing physical postures and movements to facilitate the vibratory response, which is grounding, in order to release tension and feel the flow of our own energy.
Do you experience more fear than you would like, feel panicked, engage in what-if thinking, go over things endlessly in your mind, or engage in obsessive/compulsive behaviors?
We fear expressing who we really are (we have learned to hide our real selves), we fear living in the present moment (we live in the past and/or in the future), and we fear going after what we want for ourselves (we have multiple reasons or excuses for not doing so).
Are you feeling down, feeling tired and not having enough energy, having difficulty concentrating, feeling unmotivated, not feeling good about yourself (your inner critic won't stop), having difficulty enjoying life, and feeling stuck in your life?
Are you unhappy in your relationship, having difficulty resolving conflict, fighting, or feeling disconnected from one another?
Creating a healthy relationship requires an ongoing effort and is not always an easy task.
To become an adult is an ongoing process of being able to grow into a more whole and honest expression of oneself.
This is because you will be able to be fully present and listen more effectively when communicating with your partner.
You will be able to manage conflict in a mutually respectful way.
Not at all.
People who ask for help know when they need it and have the ability to reach out.
Everyone needs help now and then.
You already have some strengths that you've used before, that for whatever reason isn't working right now.
Perhaps this problem feels overwhelming and is making it difficult to access your past strengths.
In our work together, I'll help you identify what those strengths are and how to implement them again in what is happening now.
The difference is between someone who can do something, and someone who has the training and experience to do that same thing professionally.
