NOTE: As of 6/25/21, I am resuming in-person therapy sessions for those who are fully vaccinated. I will also continue to offer phone or video sessions. I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and psychotherapist offering services to individuals in Philadelphia. My pronouns are he/him/his. My work is guided by psychodynamic and relational ideas.
This means I believe the unique relationship we develop is a tool to gain meaning and healing. I focus on the here and now while maintaining a curiosity about how your past and unconscious motivations shape you. I work with most individuals on a long-term basis, but I'm also open to focusing on short-term challenges and solutions. I will listen closely to your needs, and I will share my questions and observations.
I charge $150 per session for individuals and $180 for couples, and I ask for a commitment to one 50-minute session each week. I occasionally have sliding scale spots available. I do not accept insurance but can provide invoices if you would like to seek reimbursement from your insurance for out-of-network care.

Some people seek therapy for help with specific concerns, such as social anxiety or anger.
Other people seek therapy simply because they want to better understand themselves.
Still others have a sense that they want therapy but aren't sure where to begin.
The experience of therapy can vary widely, depending on the relationship we build and what you bring to sessions, including your set of concerns, your personality, and the experiences that have shaped you.

I have worked with several therapists across my life, and Josh is outstanding for a number of reasons. Most important, he is a very caring person. Second, he has a strong understanding of human relationships, and he brings a lot of curiosity to his work and is very open to supporting me and helping me with my specific concerns.
