If things aren't getting better on their own, maybe it's time to try a different approach. You might be considering therapy if you've been feeling stuck in life. Maybe you excel at what you do, but everything seems harder than it should. Maybe you feel like your brain just won't shut off at the end of the day. You might be facing a new challenge, like starting a new career or relationship, coping with an illness, or losing something important to you.
Maybe anxiety or depression has been following you around for a while, or maybe it's a new experience. People work hard to manage on their own. But if things aren't getting better, it might be time to get professional care. I'm Dr. Hannah Cassedy, a clinical psychologist. I offer in-person therapy for adults in Dallas, as well as video therapy anywhere in Texas and most other states.
In my practice, I often see professionals and high achievers who feel spread too thin, burned out, or like the balance in their life is somehow "off." These folks sometimes deal with subtle anxiety and depression for years, perhaps not feeling like it rises to the level of needing treatment.

Services
I work most successfully with people who are excited to learn more about themselves: what makes them tick; what makes them shine; what they bring to the table, both good and bad.
My approach to therapy is called relational: I won't be a nodding bobblehead, and I also won't tell you what to do.
I'll get to know you in a very fundamental way, and I'll let you know my reaction to what I see.
We'll sort out together what kind of changes you might want to make in your life.
We'll use compassion and humor and drawings, if you like.

Maybe you're a bright thinker and hard worker, but you never quite feel good enough.
You might excel professionally or academically, but new challenges seem to take more work than they should.
Maybe this is a longstanding issue, or maybe it only became a problem when you faced a big change in your life like a career shift, new parenthood, or the threat of a serious illness like cancer.
If you feel deflated or overwhelmed by the end of the day, I can help with that.
As a clinical psychologist, I can help you sort through underlying emotional issues, such as anxiety or depression, that may be bound up with your recurrent struggles.

When you're faced with a serious illness like cancer, it can feel like the floor has dropped out from under you.
Cancer brings up many emotional hurdles: adjusting to life as a patient; dealing with side effects of treatment and changes to your body; juggling your own feelings while also navigating family members' and friends' reactions; and facing the limitations of your body in a new, real way.
As a psychologist with specialty training in psycho-oncology, or therapy for the specific challenges that cancer patients face, I understand that every step of cancer recovery comes with its own challenges.

It's essential that you find a therapist who feels like the right match for you.
With that in mind, I consider our first therapy appointment to be a consultation to see if we'd be a good fit together.
If at the end of that appointment you'd prefer not to continue therapy with me, there is no charge for the appointment.
Otherwise, that and all subsequent appointments cost $180.
