With a background in Social Psychiatry and Psychodynamic Psychiatry, Dr. Sluzki has been the director of departments of psychiatry in two general hospitals for a total of 22 years, and Professor of Psychiatry at UCSF and University of Massachusetts Medical School. He is currently a clinical Professor of Psychiatry at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.
Dr. Sluzki completed his training in psychoanalysis at the Argentine Psychoanalytic Association, and participated in the development of the Brief Therapy team at MRI (Palo Alto, CA). Over the years, he has provided individual therapy in both the public and private sector, following a narrative oriented approach towards conflict transformation. Dr. Sluzki has participated in the development of the field of systemic couples and family therapy, with a steady presence as a trainer and practitioner.
He has authored a dozen books, and over 150 articles and chapters on the subject. During 7 years, he has been the director of training and then director of the prestigious Mental Research Institute in Palo Alto, CA.
