Psychotherapy for children, especially very young children, is not the same as therapy for adults.
Talking may be one of the core aspects of therapy for adults, but for children, play is the medium best used to communicate their emotional distress.
Therapy with children is also different from therapy with adults in that it is much more active, since children do not possess the same verbal capabilities as adults.
Another crucial aspect to a positive therapeutic experience for children is the emphasis on the important role that parents play in child therapy.
