Dr. Miller has practiced as a psychologist in the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area since 1988 with a wide variety of age groups and problems. Her supportive approach to psychotherapy focuses both on understanding one's relevant history and developing strategies for managing current symptoms. She is particularly skilled in helping children and their parents, but also specializes in working with distressed couples.

In addition to her private psychotherapy practice, Dr. Miller is a qualified Collaborative Divorce Coach and Child Specialist. In these roles she helps families through the process of divorce as a member of a team that includes attorneys but does not involve litigation. Her previous career as a practicing attorney has given her a unique perspective on this emerging alternative dispute resolution model for divorce.
Services
Dr. Miller works with young children, adolescents, adults and couples on issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship problems and grief.
Her style is warm and empathic and employs varied techniques, including the exploration of patterns and their historical sources, cognitive-behavioral strategies, mindfulness, and play therapy.
In her practice the establishment of a good working relationship wherein the person feels safe and understood is paramount.
Dr. Miller's training and early career experience emphasized child psychotherapy, and she very much enjoys working with children of all ages and their parents.
The Collaborative Divorce process is a new model in family law that offers an alternative to litigation.
The divorcing couple is part of a Collaborative Team that includes attorneys for both parties, a neutral financial specialist and mental health professionals in two different capacities-a Collaborative Divorce Coach and a Collaborative Child Specialist.
Dr. Miller can provide services in either role.
Each member of the team commits to a respectful and transparent process that fosters an emotionally healthy environment, protects the parties and their children from the fallout of a more adversarial approach and lays the groundwork for an amicable future relationship.
