Sweeney April MD
Portland Psychotherapy strives to make quality, evidence-based mental health services available to all members of our community. Supporting diversity and inclusivity is a core value at Portland Psychotherapy. We offer individual and group therapy and can provide low fee/sliding scale services to those in financial need. We are dedicated to treating psychological problems with methods based on the best science available.

We specialize in a form of cognitive-behavior therapy called Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), which has been shown in empirical studies to be effective for a wide variety of psychological problems. Several of our therapists are also researchers, which means that we stay up-to-date on what the research says about what works. If we can't provide what we think is the best treatment for what a client is struggling with, we will do our best to refer them to an appropriate treatment.

We do not try to be something for everyone, but instead are a group of specialists, each with our own focus areas.
Services
Our mission at Portland Psychotherapy is to make quality, evidence-based psychotherapy available to ALL in our community.
In keeping with this commitment, we are pleased to offer mobility access to those in our community with limited mobility at our center at 3700 N Williams Ave in Portland.
Our new building is equipped with a wheelchair lift (see photo below), which can support up to 700 lbs.
The closest parking space to the building is reserved for people with a disabled person parking permit.
Portland Psychotherapy was founded in 2007 out of a desire to create a different kind of mental health center, one in which the practice and science of psychotherapy go hand in hand.
As dedicated therapists and scientific researchers, we Jenna LeJeune, Ph.
D. and Jason Luoma, Ph.
D., the co-founders of Portland Psychotherapy, wanted to create a clinic that made effective, science-based psychotherapy available to all in our community.
At the same time, we also wanted to be able to contribute to the broader community through scientific research.
At Portland Psychotherapy, we are committed to making high quality psychotherapy, backed by science, available to everyone in our community.
As part of our commitment to providing services to the uninsured or underinsured, we provide hundreds of low fee sessions every year.
Most of these sessions are provided by our crew of amazing postdoctoral fellows and practicum students who can see clients who do not have the financial resources to pay our normal fees.
Our postdoctoral fellows are selected through a national search and we choose only highly qualified therapists experienced in evidenced-based psychotherapies.
At Portland Psychotherapy we are honored that our clients trust us with some of their most private information and we take our responsibility of protecting that information very seriously.
