30 years of working in the field of counseling and psychotherapy have affirmed for me that the relationship formed between therapist and patient is the key to therapy's ability to promote healing. It's basic elements are mutual respect, unconditional positive regard, empathic understanding and the desire to grow and change. Psychotherapy is a creative and collaborative process.
It allows you to share your thoughts and feelings in a supportive and comfortable setting. It promotes resourcefulness through self examination. Therapists are trained to understand how human nature and life experience can shape behavior. Therapy is an opportunity to make different choices in order to change your life for the better. Please call or email me to set up a session.
Initial phone consultations are free of charge. While on the phone, we will take the time to talk about your concerns and see how I can help. We are committed to your privacy. By clicking send you agree that the phone number you provided may be used to contact you (including autodialed or pre-recorded calls).

A therapist can help you gain insight and discover ways of overcoming obstacles but ultimately each person must choose how they want to live and what they want to change in order to improve their lives.
Sometimes healing is as simple as letting go of an old wound or grieving a recent loss.
Sometimes it is complicated by a history of trauma.
There are many forms of therapy.

Sandplay is a term coined by Jungian analysts to describe the process of using sand, miniatures and a free and protected space as therapy for children and adults.
It was originated by Dora Kalff in Switzerland in the 1950's.
It has evolved over the past sixty years and is currently being used in a variety of ways.
My use of Sand Play is a modification of the Jungian technique.
I have found that interaction during sandplay, in and out of the tray, can create another component of the healing experience.

Talking together about your children's needs after divorce can sometimes be the most difficult part of the process.
If you want to make a best effort to support parenting in each home, compromise is often necessary.
The Association of Family and Conciliation Courts offers a Co-Parent Communication Guide that focus on keeping children out of the middle, reducing conflict and providing basic tools for sharing information.
Information should be Accurate, Complete and Timely, A.C.T.
This is especially critical with young children who should not be made responsible for sharing information about medication, school, travel plans, appointments or any other issues that would normally be the responsibility of the adults that care for them.
