We know that it can be very difficult to find the right counseling help. But we want you to know that as committed professional psychologists our first priority is to be of benefit to those who seek our assistance. Both of us have many strengths as therapists, but we also know our limitations. If we don't have the clinical expertise you require, or if the therapy 'match' between us doesn't feel optimal, we will help you find the right psychologist (or other type of therapist) in the Chicago area to meet your needs.

We want what's best for you. The ways you relate to others, the ways you feel about yourself, and the ways in which you think about the world around you can produce distress in many forms: depression, anxiety, anger, compulsion, isolation. Changing these feelings and behaviors with the help of the right psychotherapy experience can make all the difference in bringing fulfillment and stability to your life.

In short, we may be the right psychologists to help you feel better and understand yourself more deeply through the psychotherapy experience.
Services
My Approach: The aim of counseling is to help you make meaningful changes that will improve your life.
An effective therapist should, as a first priority, help to alleviate the often considerable acute distress that pushes clients to look to start therapy.
After this initial relief is achieved, the way is then cleared to focus in counseling on the bigger-picture of your psychological life.
This includes examining your beliefs and feelings about yourself and others, your interpersonal style, the usual ways in which you protect yourself from getting hurt, the influence of your childhood experiences, and many other factors, including highlighting and bringing to bear your hard-won strengths.
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or just plain dissatisfied with aspects of your life?
Each person has characteristic ways of managing their emotional reactions to their unique life challenges.
The focus of my psychotherapy work is on identifying, strengthening, and, when necessary, modifying these coping methods to optimize your satisfaction in work and relationships.
One of the most important parts of our collaborative counseling work will be to create a safe space for the exploration of feelings and behaviors.
Maybe you're down or anxious; maybe you're unsure about the future of a relationship.
Or perhaps you just have a vague feeling that you aren't living the life you were meant to lead.
Dr. Burrows and Dr. Aber are committed to helping their counseling clients reconnect with a sense of emotional health and purpose in life.
Many people live with painful feelings and the frustration of being unable to alter their behavior for far too long.
Effective psychotherapy instills self-understanding and promotes transformation by encouraging behavior change and the adoption of new attitudes and feelings.
Our building is located at the corner of Michigan Ave. and Washington St.
Parking is available in the Millenium Park underground lot right in front of our building, as well as in several above-ground lots on Randolph St. and Wabash Ave.
This location is served by many bus lines and there are several CTA stops close by.
Dr. Burrows also has an office in Northbrook.
Please contact her for specific information about her Northbrook location and schedule.
The fee for a 45 minute session is $175.
We often set aside some time in our schedules for clients who require a reduced fee, so please inquire about this if your financial resources are limited.
Sit back, browse, and learn a thing or two.
We want you to be as knowledgeable as possible about all aspects of your therapy endeavor.
To that end, we have put together a number of useful and informative (we hope!) articles and resources for your perusal.
You'll also find links to practical resources such as handouts, books, and websites we highly recommend, along with downloadable mp3 recordings of relaxation procedures and meditation guides.
