We offer trauma informed therapy for children, teens, and adults from trained professionals in Austin, TX. Moving Parts Psychotherapy is a group practice in Austin, TX founded by Ilyse Kennedy, LPC, LMFT, PMH-C and made up of therapists passionate about providing trauma informed care to Texas residents. Ilyse founded this practice after recognizing a gap in care for those who have endured trauma.

While many therapists tout themselves as "trauma informed, " not all therapists are trained or dedicated in working with the nuances. Our team is dedicated to continuous education to provide high quality therapy for trauma recovery and beyond. We are social justice informed and aim to offer a supportive environment regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, ability, or weight.

Our team is trained and actively culturally responsive because what happened to your people is as important as what happened to you. We recognize only the client can determine safety in the room, while we offer safety, we understand the client defines it.
Services
Moving Parts Psychotherapy PLLC was founded in 2017 by Ilyse Kennedy, LPC, LMFT, PMH-C, EMDRIA Certified Clinician.
As someone with lived experience with mental health struggles, this practice was founded with YOU (the client) in mind.
Our practice is guided by lived experience but backed with evidence based practice.
Because trauma, mental health, and social justice are intrinsically connected we place this at the forefront of our work.
Our clinicians are trained and actively involved in on-going work to support marginalized communities.
My name is Celestie Nguyen (she/her), and I am a queer, first-generation woman of colour with my heart in my hands and a love for buying new books before I can finish my current ones.
I am a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW), and earned my MSW from Columbia University's School of Social Work, before hauling myself, my partner, and our cat down to Texas.
I am deeply committed to practicing from an anti-capitalist and anti-oppressive lens, and supporting clients onwards in their expansive journey of mental health.
The decision to seek counseling is is a big step.
For many, this means entrusting someone with your story that includes topics that may feel scary to disclose.
Our approach is based on interpersonal neurobiology, focusing on how unpleasant memories can get stored in the brain and effect the body without our knowledge.
These effects can range from a racing heart to freezing or fainting.
Some of us see the effects play out in depression, anxiety, stress, or relationship trouble.
It is important to know it is not your fault and it can get better.
My name is Ilyse Kennedy.
I'm the founder of Moving Parts Psychotherapy and a therapist, educator, public speaker, and fierce mental health advocate on Instagram and beyond.
If you're looking for my credentials and advanced trainings, scroll to the end.
While advanced trainings are kind of my jam, and I'm of the mindset a therapist's education is never complete, the 'about me' is so you can get to know me as a person to assure a fit as your therapist.
I've always been a helper by nature.
As a child, this meant befriending kids who struggled, and talking bullies down to empathy.
Therapy services are initiated once forms have been signed as a contractual agreement between therapist and client.
Please contact us only for the purposes of initiating therapy services or media inquiries.
We are not responsible for inquiries that are not from active clients even if they contain mental health information.
