Edelson & Associates was founded in 1980 by Richard I Edelson, Ph. D., with a goal of providing comprehensive neuropsychological and psychological evaluations and compassionate therapeutic services. Dr. Edelson, who had completed his training in neuropsychology under Muriel Lezak, Ph. D. at the VA Medical Center in Portland, Oregon, sought to integrate psychology and neuropsychology into medical settings within the Louisville area and by so doing to assist in improving patient outcomes.
After becoming a Diplomate and Fellow of the American Board of Professional Neuropsychology in 1991, Dr. Edelson actively began training clinicians and graduate students in neuropsychology, pulling students from the University of Louisville and Spalding University and attracting employees from across the United States.
The initial clinical focus was on serving adult and geriatric patients, but demand for child/adolescent services lead to the addition of pediatric-centered clinicians a few years after the practice was established.
