I decided to become a therapist by age 17.
During my teenage years, and due to my own personal experiences with anxiety I made it my main goal to figure out what was happening to me since nobody could explain why I would feel so nervous and worried.
People try to fix what was going on with me, " It's ok, just relax", and the more I heard those words the worst I felt.
I met a school counselor who explained to me what was happening and encouraged me to see a therapist.
It was not only the skills that I learned, but mostly the educational part on what anxiety was that helped me understand what was happening to me at that moment.

I began my professional career at Chestnut Lodge Psychiatric Hospital in Rockville, Maryland and continued it, when I moved to Houston, at Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine.
I was also in private practice for over 8 years.
I became a therapist because I wanted to help people.
I wanted them to understand that because things were not good in the present, did not mean that they would always be that way.
