Someone once asked me about the origin of the name I chose for my psychotherapy and counseling practice. I chose Solutions Counseling Service because, in most cases after meeting with a client we identify the problem, and for every problem there is a solution! Within a safe, mind-body oriented, holistic environment, I focus on your behaviors and relationships.
After we examine the life experiences and influences that have led you to seek psychotherapy we can begin the process of growth and change. Once the thoughts, beliefs, and patterns of negative behaviors that have limited your growth and prevented you from living a full and joyful life are recognized they can be addressed. To change these patterns requires honesty, patience, and discipline but the results far outweigh the effort.
My specialties include, but are not limited to, anxiety disorders, depression, smoking cessation, marriage counseling, to name just a few. By visiting the Specialties page in this website you will find a more extensive list.

I practice an eclectic approach in my psychotherapy and counseling practice as I do not strictly adhere to any one theoretical perspective or theory.
Rather I am guided by a number of current treatment modalities.
This approach identifies goals according to social, emotional, cognitive, spiritual and physical aspects.
An individual treatment plan is specifically created for each individual.
Thus my work is individualized and flexible.
The strength of this approach is being able to see each person as a unique individual with his/her own unique story.

The essential feature of addictions is the continued use of the substance despite having evidence of the difficulty it is causing.
Often there is a repeated pattern of using substances that result in an increased tolerance, withdrawal, and compulsive use.
Despite the desire to regulate use, there may have been many unsuccessful efforts to decrease or discontinue use.
The individual may spend a great deal of time obtaining, using, or recovering from the effects of the substance.
Important family, social, recreational or occupational activities may be given up or reduced because of the substance abuse.

Dr. Murman literally helped save our marriage not once but twice.
The first time he came to our aid my husband's OCD was out of control and affecting every area of our lives including parenting.
Through a number of techniques, including hypnotherapy, Bob taught my husband how to control his urges/impulses.
Recently my husband began working with Bob again when he realized the OCD had manifested in a different manner.
Bob has brought me in to provide feedback; those meetings felt like mini marital counseling sessions and we both walked away feeling more optimistic about our relationship and our future.
