Is your child struggling in school and you want to better understand how to help her?
Or is someone in your family having difficulty sustaining attention and now it's starting to effect their schoolwork or job performance?
These are situations that we see everyday and our psychologists can help diagnose what's going on by using psychological assessment techniques.
Psychological testing can help you gain a better understanding of what is going on, so you can gain insight, help guide treatment, obtain accommodations (if appropriate), and implement customized recommendations.

As a parent, there is nothing worse than watching your child struggle and feeling helpless when you can't make things magically better for them.
Anxiety and depression levels are higher than ever for children, and although you may be doing everything possible to give them support, sometimes they can benefit from additional help.
Several of our therapists specialize in child therapy--in fact, they love working with children!
Children come to therapy for a variety of issues such as ADHD, behavior problems, anxiety, depression, trauma, parental divorce/separation, school issues, tic disorders, dealing with chronic medical conditions, parent-child interaction therapy, and many other individualized issues that are disrupting the child's life in some way.

What is PCIT?
PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for children between the ages of 2 and 6 with behavior challenges.
What Can I Expect in PCIT Sessions?
In PCIT sessions, parents are involved in the sessions and receive in the moment "coaching" by the therapist.
The therapist observes parents interacting with the child.
As the parent, you are given in-the-moment feedback on skills you are learning to help you manage your child's behavior effectively.
Overall improved interactions within the family (parents report "enjoying their child" again).

Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, known as EMDR, is a highly researched and very effective treatment model used to treat the emotional and physical effects of trauma and PTSD.
Trauma can mean different things to different people.
The traumatic events that you experienced might not be like the traumas we see on TV.
Trauma is best defined as anything that was devastating or life changing when it happened, and it still causes an emotional or physical reaction when you think of it now.
EMDR is an evidence based model of treatment that can help reduce or eliminate much of the trauma response.
