Making the decision to begin therapy can be extremely difficult but the result can be highly rewarding--and life changing. I applaud your willingness to take this first and courageous step by seeking more information. I provide therapy services for adolescents, adults, couples, and families struggling with depression, anxiety, stress, and many other life or relationship problems.

I think you will find the answers to most of your questions on this site, but feel free to reach out for more information. I would be happy to help if I can and am hoping we have a chance to meet! It's certainly a time of fear and instability for all of us. Unfortunately, it appears that things may continue to get worse for a while before they get better.

As you've seen, most schools and businesses are shutting down in an effort to contain the spread of the virus. Teletherapy is very much like normal therapy, just done over the computer or phone (just like a FaceTime call). This decision does not come lightly or out of fear, but out of my desire to participate in the communal effort to slow the spread of this virus.
Services
I was born and raised in Santa Barbara, CA and moved to San Diego in 1998 to begin my college career at Point Loma Nazarene University.
I began school as a physics/engineering major, but out of personal interest began taking elective psychology courses.
I found the classes stimulating and, more importantly, they helped me better understand my difficult life experiences.
I have tended to be someone that others felt comfortable talking to and I enjoyed helping people, so with the help of encouragement from professors and loved ones, I ultimately decided to switch majors and pursue psychology as a career.
Individual therapy involves regularly scheduled one-on-one sessions, typically on a weekly basis.
When beginning individual therapy, I will be conducting an initial assessment that will last anywhere from 1-4 sessions.
It is my aim during this evaluation to not only understand what it is that you are seeking help for, but also to begin creating a space for safety, authenticity, and compassionate dialogue.
From this place, we can work collaboratively to identify treatment goals and a plan for reaching those goals.
From the bottom of my heart I want to say thank you for so many things: for being patient with me, for your authenticity, for your perspective, and for your honesty.
You have been real and present with me always.
Your insights come from a genuine, human place, and I have always appreciated this so much.
When I began my journey I didn't know if I could even tolerate therapy and a therapist in my life.
I couldn't have imagined how much I would learn to enjoy talking and that I would care about the person that I was talking to.
Payment Options: Cash or check is preferrable, but I am able to accept credit cards upon request.
I make an effort to reserve some spots in my caseload for college students and other low-income clients.
If my full fee is beyond your budget, it may be possible to make other fee arrangements based on need.
Please feel free to ask about this option.
I offer free 30-min consultation meetings for those interested.
The main goals during this time are for us to get to know one another, to determine if we are a right fit for one another, and to allow you to ask any questions you may have about me or the therapy process itself.
The building is on the corner of Fourth and Brookes in the Hillcrest/Banker's Hill area.
There is plenty of metered and free parking, though it may be difficult finding openings depending on the time of day.
I recommend arriving a few minutes early to give yourself enough time to find a spot close by.
When you reach the front door, press the call button ONCE for Suite #5 and I will buzz you in as soon as I am able to.
As you enter, my office is in the first suite on the right.
Please have a seat in my waiting room, help yourself to some water or tea if you'd like, and I will come greet you shortly.
