I have made it my life's work to help women, men, and couples overcome the pain of trauma and post traumatic stress. As a compassionate witness to your distress and suffering, my goal is to help you heal and feel empowered to achieve your goals. I believe in the healing power of psychotherapy, a warm caring relationship, and room to grow in your own unique direction.

I use the therapeutic relationship, along with EMDR, specialized EMDR for Complicated PTSD, Writing for Healing, Focusing Oriented Therapy, Ego State Therapy, Relaxation and Restorative Yoga Techniques as tools for Healing.
Services
I am interested in helping you overcome and heal your pain and sorrow, anger and frustration, confusion and stuckness.
People say I am warm and compassionate, a good listener, someone who is patient and perseverant in my efforts to help.
My extensive experience as a therapist helps me to help you.
Over the years I have been fortunate to be able to develop my intuitive skills and sensitivity to your needs.
As a woman, I have been able to develop my empathy and understanding in my role as a therapist.
In order to see if I am a good fit for you, I want you to know about what problems I am qualified to help with and how I approach these concerns.
I work with women, men, and couples.
Because I am a therapist with a great deal of experience, I have seen many people and helped with many kinds of problems.
Trauma can be behind many problems including eating disorders and addictions, but that is not always true.
I have seen many people over the years who have worked through depression, anxiety, and stress.
Here is more about my counseling services in San Francisco and Palo Alto, a more in-depth description of how I work.
A large part of my practice is focused on women's issues, in addition to men, and couples.
As a psychotherapist practicing for over 30 years, I have become well acquainted with the craft of uncovering the heart's knowledge.
Using an integrative approach, I combine my personal style with several theoretical approaches in a desire to create an atmosphere of safety, learning, and growth.
There are many therapists who specialize in therapy for PTSD.
In the San Francisco Bay Area, you can find pages and pages of results on Google searches for therapists who identify as trauma specialists.
How do you choose the right person for you?
This is a personal decision and needs to be based on what connection and fit you feel with your therapist.
Your relationship with your therapist is a very important part of the healing process.
You need to be able to feel good with him/her and also be able to say when something doesn't feel right.
Anxiety is a feeling, just like anger, sadness, or joy.
It can be a pointer to things that you need to pay attention to.
It is a sign that you are stressed, or facing a difficult situation (such as public speaking or going to the doctor, coping with illness, your own or another's).
Anxiety is not always bad.
It can be a motivator to pay attention when something is bothering you.
When anxiety becomes a problem, it's because the feelings get too strong, don't dissipate when the stress is over, or cause you to avoid the things that scare you.
