Services
I am considered an "out of network" provider by PPO insurance plans.
If you would like to use your health insurance, I can provide you with a superbill upon request that will contain all the information you will need to submit a claim to your insurance company.
Insurance companies' mental health benefits vary from plan to plan.
Please consult with your insurance company to get a good understanding of the extent to which your plan will assist you with my professional fees.
If you have an HSA/FSA account I can also provide you with an invoice necessary for reimbursements.
Contemporary depth psychology is a branch of clinical psychology that focuses on the value of linking the conscious self with what is shut out of conscious awareness, i.e. the unconscious self.
This approach also called "psychodynamic" or "psychoanalytic" can be applied to helping to explore and resolve childhood and intergenerational socio-cultural trauma.
Depth oriented therapy helps by tracing current psychological problems (symptoms) to old unconscious patterns sometimes stemming back to childhood or ancestral injuries.
As an LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, and Queer) affirmative psychologist, I am committed to providing a setting to thoughtfully explore gender and sexual identities.
I am a gay identified man and know from my own experience that psychotherapy can help to dismantle the impact of oppressive belief systems including those that have been internalized e.g.
I work from a scientifically validated understanding of the natural variance in gender and sexuality.
These forms of human self-expression are understood to be not only normal, but also purposeful and integral to societal well-being.
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT) combines principles of cognitive behavioral therapy with classical mindfulness techniques to help interrupt patterns of negative thinking and increase body based present focused awareness in a way that can foster the ability to consider life events with greater focus, clarity, curiosity, empathy, and insight.
MBCT practices include learning to build attention span, moment-to-moment awareness of your body, feelings and thoughts as well as your core strengths and helpful connection to others.
Neurotherapy entails the use of neurofeedback (brain focused biofeedback) and cranial microstimulation to reduce stress and anxiety, support self-regulation, as well as optimize peak brain performance.
Neurotherapy offers a technologically cutting edge, fully data-driven perspective that can inform and be applied in combination with psychotherapy.
There are many kinds of neurotherapy modalities.
I use a Neurofield and Neuroguide system as well as Alpha Stim.
This data can help to indicate which areas of the brain are relatively active and which may be a little sluggish or dysregulated.
