I am a clinical psychologist and psychoanalyst practicing in Berkeley, California. In my practice I see a wide variety of people and tailor my approach to their individual needs and goals. I use my extensive training and experience to help my patients better understand themselves and their relationships, relieve troubling symptoms and resolve problems in love and work.
Therapy is a collaborative process and we begin with a careful evaluation to identify problems and agree on a plan for treatment. The work ranges from brief weekly therapy to longer term, intensive psychoanalysis. Therapy is an interpersonal process for developing understanding and creating change. My job is to listen for both what is said and not said and bring attention to emerging feelings, connections and insights.
The patient's task is to be open and honest about themselves. Although successful therapy can be uncomfortable as painful experiences are explored and worked through, I strive to maintain the right balance of support and challenge.
